NGC 6423 is a 14.8 mag bright compact Seyfert galaxy (type 1) of the Hubble type C in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky , which is an estimated 333 million light years away from the Milky Way . The galaxy NGC 6419 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on August 1, 1883 .
