NGC 6430 is a 13.8 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 144 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light-years across. She is considered a member of the six galaxies counting NGC 6500 group ( LGG 414 ).

The Type Ia / P supernova SN 2012ea was observed here.

The object was discovered by Albert Marth on June 2, 1864 .
