NGC 6434 is a 12.4 mag bright bar-spiral Seyfert galaxy (type 1) of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Dragon and about 120 million light-years away from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on June 6, 1788 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "eF, stellar, with 300 power lE in parallel".
