NGC 6463 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type e-S0 in the constellation Dragon at the northern sky , the 556 million light-years from an estimated Milky Way is removed.
NGC 6463 is part of an optical galaxy cluster made up of the six closely spaced galaxies NGC 6456 , NGC 6463 , NGC 6470 , NGC 6471 , NGC 6472 and NGC 6477 . A final clear identification based on Swift's observations is still pending.
The property was discovered by Lewis A. Swift in 1886 .
