NGC 6472 is a 15.2 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Dragon at the northern sky .
NGC 6472 is part of an optical galaxy cluster made up of the six closely spaced galaxies NGC 6456 , NGC 6463 , NGC 6470 , NGC 6471 , NGC 6472 and NGC 6477 . A final clear identification based on Swift's observations is still pending.
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on September 25, 1886 .
