NGC 6478 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Draco the northern sky . It is estimated to be 312 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 6466 .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on May 30, 1886 .
