NGC 6487 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Hercules at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 350 million light years from the Milky Way and about 185,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 6486 it forms an (optical?) Pair of galaxies.
The object was discovered on July 28, 1880 by Édouard Stephan .
