NGC 6496 is a metal-rich, galactic globular cluster in the constellation Scorpio on the ecliptic . It is estimated that 36,800 light years from the sun away and has an age of about 10.5 billion years ago. NGC 6496 is considered to be an extremely metal-rich star cluster.
The object was discovered in 1826 by astronomer James Dunlop using a 9-inch telescope.
