NGC 6521 is a 12.4 likes bright cD galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type E2 in the constellation Draco the northern sky . It is an estimated 377 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 175,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6512 and NGC 6516 .

The Type Ia supernova SN 2009hs was observed here.

The object was discovered by Heinrich d'Arrest on October 27, 1861 .
