NGC 6527 is a 14.2 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 250 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light-years across .
The object was discovered by Truman Safford on August 1, 1866 .
