NGC 6524 is a 12.9 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is an estimated 264 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter .
The Type Ia / P supernova SN 2010hh was observed here.
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on October 22, 1886 .
