NGC 6538 is a spiral dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 68 million light years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years across.
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on May 30, 1886 .
