The N 1 is one of the national roads in Senegal . It is part of the Dakar-N'Djamena Highway along its entire length .

Originally, the course of the street in the center of Dakar began at Place Soweto , formerly known as Place Ch. Tascher , where the parliament building of the Assemblée nationale is located. The end of the N1 is in Kidira at the road bridge over the border river Falémé , behind which the Malian national road RN1 begins and the route up to then is 650 kilometers long.

The road connects the east of the country with the metropolitan region of Dakar . For long stretches it runs parallel to the Dakar – Niger railway through the agriculturally important peanut basin in the regions (from east to west) of Tambacounda , Kaffrine , Kaolack , Fatick and Thiès .

Since the completion of the toll road 1 (Dakar - Diamniadio), which connects the capital with the new Dakar-Blaise Diagne airport , the beginning of the N1 can only be found at the junction with the N 2 in Diamniadio and it would only be 610 kilometers long.
