Nakuru County (until 2010 Nakuru District ) is a county in Kenya . The county's capital is Nakuru . With 2,162,202 inhabitants (2019), it is the third largest county in the country in terms of population after Nairobi and Kiambu . Nakuru County has an area of ​​7509.5 km². The region is dominated by agriculture. Neighboring cities are Lanet and Njoro . Lanet is about 10 km away and consists mainly of a residential area and a military base. Njoro, 20 km away, is a small town with an agricultural college. Local attractions include the Lake Nakuru in Lake Nakuru National Park and the menengai , an extinct volcano, which is 2,490 meters high.
