The 1950/51 season was the 13th regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the first time in its club history, the EHC Arosa became Swiss champions.
As in the previous year, the league was divided into two groups of four teams in the main round. Each of the teams played back and forth against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team six. The two best teams in each group then qualified for the final round, the winners of which became champions, while the other four teams competed against each other for relegation and the last of the relegation round had to compete against the best second division team in the relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.
The results from the main round between the two teams in a group that ran together in the final or relegation round were transferred to the final or relegation round.
The Young Sprinters Neuchâtel met the best second division club HC La Chaux-de-Fonds and narrowly prevailed 8: 7, which enabled them to stay in the league.
