Petra Klimek

Petra Klimek (born April 21, 1958 ) is a German sculptor , film architect , artistic director and prop master .

Life

Petra Klimek studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in the sculpting class of Heinz Hemrich and Hermann Volz (1923–1985). She then took part in summer academies in Zons with the sculptor Johannes Dröge. Exhibitions at home and abroad followed, most recently in 2009 with “Moving Concept” and in 2010 with Sabina Wörner in “Garden of Transformation” in Amsterdam.

Since 1993 she has also worked as a filmmaker in Germany and in Belgium, Denmark, Djibouti , Kenya, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Rwanda and the Czech Republic in film productions . Petra Klimek built screenshots in the film crew of film directors like Franziska Buch , Lisa Violetta Gass , Helma Sanders-Brahms , Margarethe von Trotta , Nicole Weegmann , Stephen Frears , Michael Glawogger , Philip Groening , Sherry Hormann , Jean-Pierre Jeunet , Dani Levy , Nikolai Müllerschön , Sebastian Schipper , Peter Timm and Tom Tykwer .

Petra Klimek taught as a guest lecturer in work camps for stone sculpture at the Summer Academy Rothaarsteig in 2005, 2006 and 2011. In the 2015/2016 academic year she taught as a tutor for production design at the International Film School Cologne (ifs). The multi-part TV series Winnetou - The Myth Lives , in which Petra Klimek participated, was awarded the German TV Prize 2017 in the category “Best Equipment”. On February 2, 2017, she accepted the award on behalf of the company.

She is a longstanding member of the Association of Requisiteurs and Set Decorators eV (VdRSD) based in Hamburg. She lives and works in Amsterdam and Cologne.
