Pisanica ( German  Birkenwalde (forester's house) ) is a small place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the Gmina Ełk ( rural community Lyck ) in the powiat Ełcki ( Lyck district ).

Geographical location

Pisanica is located in the east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, six kilometers northeast of the district town of Ełk (Lyck) .

history

The Birkenwalde forestry was founded on March 27, 1862 as a place to live in the municipality of Przykopken (1926 to 1945 Birkenwalde (village), in Polish Przykopka ). The history is intertwined with the history of the parent community, the county elk in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905: Administrative district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. Birkenwalde had 23 residents in 1885, compared to 38 in 1905.

As a result of the war, the Birkenwalde forester's house came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of name “Pisanica”. Today the forest settlement is part of the Gmina Ełk (rural municipality Lyck ) in the powiat Ełcki ( Lyck district ), until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Until 1945 the forester's house Birkenwalde was parish in the Evangelical Parish Church of Lyck in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of St. Adalbert Lyck in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Pisanica belongs to the parish in Chełchy (Chelchen , 1938 to 1945 Kelchendorf) in the Diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant residents continue to orientate themselves towards the town of Ełk , whose parish is now a subsidiary of the parish in Pisz ( German  Johannisburg ) in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Pisanica is a little off the beaten track and can be reached by land from Przykopka . Przykopka is also the nearest train station and is located on the Ełk – Olecko ( German  Lyck – Marggrabowa (Oletzko) / Treuburg ) railway line , which is no longer regularly used .
