Primera División de Costa Rica 2005/06
The 2005/06 season was the 87th edition of the Primera División de Costa Rica , the highest Costa Rican soccer league. The championship was played in the Apertura Clausura mode . Saprissa won the 24th league title in the club's history.
Competition mode
The 2005/05 season was played in the Apertura-Clausura system. At the end of the season, the Apertura and Clausura winners met to win the championship. An overall table was also drawn up to determine who was relegated.
Apertura and Clausura were played in the following mode:
- The twelve participating clubs were divided into two groups A and B.
- Within each group, the clubs met once at home and once away, and there was one game against the clubs in the other group. In total, there were 16 games per team.
- In each group, the two best teams qualified for the playoffs , in which - starting with the semi-finals - the champions were played out.
