Primera División de Costa Rica 2006/07
The 2006/07 season was the 88th edition of the Primera División de Costa Rica , the highest Costa Rican soccer league. The championship was played in the Apertura Clausura mode . Saprissa won the 25th league title in the club's history.
Competition mode
The 2006/07 season was played in the Apertura-Clausura system. At the end of the season, the Apertura and Clausura winners met to win the championship. An overall table was also drawn up to determine who was relegated.
Apertura and Clausura were played in the following mode:
- The twelve participating clubs were divided into two groups A and B.
- Within each group, the clubs met once at home and once away, and there was one game against the clubs in the other group. In total, there were 16 games per team.
- The first four teams in each group qualified for the playoffs , which - beginning with the quarter-finals - were played in home and return matches .
