Róbert Boženík (born November 18, 1999 in Terchová ) is a Slovak football player who has been under contract with the Dutch first division club Feyenoord Rotterdam since January 2020 . The striker has been a Slovak national player since June 2019 .

Career

Boženík moved in 2009 from his hometown club FK Terchová to the youth academy of the MŠK Žilina . At the age of 16, he made his debut on April 17, 2016 in the 0-1 home defeat against NFL Partizán Bardejov in the reserve team. He scored his first goal in the second-highest Slovak division on August 24 in a 3-2 home win against FK Pohronie . In the 2016/17 season he was used at irregular intervals and at the end of the year he had eleven appearances. In the next season 2017/18 he scored six goals in 11 league games.

For the season 2018/19 Boženík was promoted to the first team and was already on 28 July 2018 (1st Round) its debut at the Fortuna league . He scored a goal in a 2-0 home win against FC Nitra . More hits followed in the next games against FK AS Trenčín and ŠKF Sered followed. As a result, he established himself as a regular player and scored 13 goals in 32 league games by the end of the season.

On January 27, 2020, Boženík moved to the Dutch first division club Feyenoord Rotterdam for a transfer fee of five million euros , where he signed a 4-1 / 2-year contract. The Slovakian made his debut on February 1 (21st matchday) in a 3-0 home win against FC Emmen when he came on for Luis Sinisterra in the 82nd minute . Two weeks later (23rd matchday) he scored in the 88th minute of the game for a 4: 3 away win against PEC Zwolle . Due to the shortened 2019/20 season , he only played 5 league games in which he scored two goals and one assist .

National team

Róbert Boženík represented his home country in various junior national teams.

He made his debut for the Slovak national football team on June 7, 2019 , when he came on as a substitute for Pavol Šafranko in a friendly international match against Jordan in the second half of a 5-1 home win . On September 9, he scored his first international goal in a 2-1 away win against Hungary in the qualifier for the 2020 European Championship .
