Rafiq Radik oğlu Hüseynov (born May 15, 1988 ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . He was the 2011 European welterweight champion in the Greco-Roman style .
Career
Rafik Huseinow started wrestling as a teenager in 1996. His father Radik Huseinow has been his trainer since the beginning of his career. He is a member of the Azerbaijani Army and a member of Dinamo Baku . He wrestles only in the Greco-Roman style and starts as an adult at a height of 1.75 meters in welterweight, the weight class up to 75 kg body weight.
Rafik Huseinow began his international career at the age of 15 when he started in the 2003 Junior European Championship (Cadets) in Rostov-on-Don in the weight class up to 54 kg, although there he still had to make do with 11th place. Then he started at seven other international junior championships. He was most successful in 2007 and 2008. He was z. B. 2007 in Belgrade Vice European Champion of the age group Juniors in the lightweight and in the same year took 3rd place at the Junior World Championships in Beijing in the lightweight behind the Russian Ruslan Belcharojew and Aibek Jenekschanow from Kazakhstan . At the European Junior Championships in 2008 in Košice , he even won the welterweight title, ahead of Sergei Proskurow from Ukraine and Arsen Kachabrishvili from Georgia . At the Junior World Championship in Istanbul in 2008 he started again in the lightweight and came there after four wins and one defeat against Saeid Mourad Abdvali from Iran on the 3rd place.
At the world championship in Herning / Denmark he made his first start in an international championship among seniors. He played five good welterweight fights there, of which he won three. Against Mark Overgaard Madsen from Norway and against Farshad Alizadeh Kalehkeshi from Iran in the battle for the bronze medal , he lost and finished 5th. He also took the same place at the 2010 World Cup in Moscow . He also won three fights there and lost to the eventual world champion Selçuk Çebi from Turkey and in the fight for 3rd place against Emil Scharafedtinow from Russia.
At the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund , he made the big hit in the welterweight division. There he defeated Racardo Gil Sorli from Spain , the Olympic third from Beijing Christophe Guénot from France , Jure Kare from Slovenia , the 2009 and 2010 world champion Selcuk Cebi and Péter Bácsi from Hungary and became European champion . At this year's World Cup in Istanbul, he first won over Asisbek Murodow, Uzbekistan and Daniar Kobonow, Kyrgyzstan, but then lost to Neven Zugaj from Croatia, which eliminated him and only finished 13th. In 2012 Rafik Huseinow was not used at the European Championships and he could not qualify for participation in the Olympic Games in London.
In 2013 he was back at the European Championships, which took place in Tbilisi. But he lost his first fight there against the only 20-year-old German Pascal Eisele , was eliminated and only came in 18th place. At the World Championships this year in Budapest he had two notable victories in the weight class up to 74 kg over Viktor Nemes , Serbia and Neven Zugaj , Croatia, but then lost to Emrah Kus , Turkey, with which he was eliminated and ended up in 10th place.
At the 2014 European Championships in Vantaa, Finland, Rafik Huseinow lost in the weight class up to 80 kg in the qualification against Alexander Schischman from Ukraine and finished 12th in the final bill. He was not used at the World Cup this year.
In February 2015 he was part of the victorious Azerbaijani team at the Team World Cup in Tehran. In the weight class up to 80 kg he won over Lennie Persson, Sweden, Pascal Eisele, Germany, Habibollah Jomeh Akhlaghi , Iran and Evgeni Salejew , Russia. In June 2015 he started again at the European Games in Baku, in the weight class up to 80 kg. There he won over Michael Wagner, Austria, Daniel Alexandrow Tihomirow, Bulgaria and Selcuk Cebi , Turkey and was only defeated in the final against Evgeni Salejew. At the World Cup this year in Las Vegas in September, he met Yevgeny Saleev again in qualifying and lost this fight. Since Salejew did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 19th place. A consolation for him was then certainly his title win at the World Military Games in Mungyeong, South Korea. In the final, he defeated it Yevgeny Saleev.
At the 2016 European Championships in Riga, Rafik Huseinow lost in the weight class up to 80 kg in the quarter-finals against Daniel Alexandrow Tihomirow and finished in 7th place in the final bill. Participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was out of the question for him, as the weight class up to 80 kg is not Olympic. He started for the military world championship in Skopje and won the silver medal there. In the final he lost to Pascal Eisele. In December 2016 he was also at the start of the world championships in the non-Olympic weight classes in Budapest. He won there over Axel Michel Bjurberg Kessidis, Sweden and then lost to Ramasan Abacharajew from Russia and came in 10th place.
In April 2018 Rafik Huseinow won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Kaspiisk in the new weight class up to 82 kg. He came in Kaspiisk to victories over Surabi Datunashvili , Georgia and Zarko Dickov, Serbia, interlaged in the semifinals against Wiktor Sasunowski from Belarus and secured this bronze medal by defeating Roland Schwarz from Germany. At the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, he reached 13th place in the weight class up to 82 kg after defeating Daniel Alexandrow Tihomirow and losing to Saeid Mourad Abdvali from Iran.
