Reinhard Wolski (* 6. July 1955 in Hannover ) is a Major General of the Army of the Armed Forces out of service . From September 2016 to September 2019 he was the head of the Office for Army Development .

Military career

Training and first uses

Reinhard Wolski joined the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate in 1974 and was trained as a paratrooper . Two years later, in 1976, he switched to the Army Air Force . In 1977 Wolski began studying aerospace engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and graduated in 1982 with a degree in engineering .

After studying the training was followed from 1982 to 1984 for helicopter leader, which he in the United States completed. Back in Germany Wolski from 1984 to 1987 flight leader and finally as a squadron commander in Celle used.

Service as a staff officer

From 1987 to 1989 he completed the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . He was then promoted to major , took over the post of General Staff Officer for Military Intelligence and Logistics (G2 / G4) at the Army Tactics Center in Hanover, and served in this role until 1991. From 1991 to 1993, Wolski graduated from Camberley, UK, 26 General staff course. This foreign use was followed by another in 1993. While the Yugoslav Wars raged in southeastern Europe , Wolski served from 1993 to 1996 as a staff officer in the Crisis Response Center at NATO Headquarters Europe ( SHAPE ) in Mons, Belgium . Here he was also responsible for supporting the UN mission UNPROFOR and then planning for the IFOR mission.

Back in Germany, Wolski took over command of the flying division 261 of the Army Aviation Regiment 26 in Roth from 1996 to 1998 . In 1998 he was briefly in the Ministry of Defense to Bonn displaced and served as a consultant for the United Kingdom and Northern Europe in the Staff Division III military policy in the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces (FüS III 1). In the same year Wolski was transferred to Bückeburg , where he took over the post of head of the further development group at the Army Aviation Weapons School , which he held until 2002.

From January to April 2002 he attended the Higher Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham , UK . He was then transferred to Veitshöchheim .

Here he acted in 2002 as head of the deployment staff of the Airmobile Operations division and subsequently served as chief of staff in the division's staff under the command of Major General Dieter Budde . In 2003 Wolski completed a foreign assignment in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the SFOR and was deployed there as chief of operations (CJ 3) at the headquarters in Butmir in Sarajevo under the command of Lieutenant General William E. Ward .

Service in the rank of general

In 2003, Colonel Wolski finally took over command of Air Mechanized Brigade 1 in Fritzlar and led it until 2006. In this role , he was appointed Brigadier General on June 1, 2005 , and from July 2005 to January 2006 in Pristina the post of Deputy Chief of Staff Operations at the headquarters of KFOR in Kosovo, first under the command of the French Lieutenant General Yves de Kermabon and then under the Italian Lieutenant General Giuseppe Valotto .

On August 4, 2006, Wolski handed over command of Air Mechanized Brigade 1 to Volker Halbauer and on August 25, he took over the post of Deputy Commander of the higher-level Air Mobile Operations Division (DLO) under the command of Major General Carl-Hubertus von Butler in Veitshöchheim . He handed this post over to Brigadier General Ernst-Otto Berk three years later on April 22, 2009 .

On April 30, 2009, Wolski took over the post of commander of the Army Aviation School in Bückeburg from Brigadier General Richard Bolz , thereby also becoming General of the Army Aviation . On July 5, 2009, he completed his two thousandth flight hour in Roth as part of the flight day for the 30th anniversary of the 26th Combat Helicopter Regiment. He handed over command of the Army Aviation School on April 4, 2013 to Brigadier General Alfons Mais .

This was followed by the assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) Resources in the ISAF HQ - Kabul (Afghanistan).

From September 24, 2014 to July 21, 2016, Wolski was the commander of the NATO Joint Warfare Center in Stavanger (Norway).

In September 2016 he took over the post of head of the Office for Army Development from Major General Wolfgang Köpke . In September 2019, he handed over this post to Brigadier General Bernard Liechtenauer and retired after 45 years of service.

Wolski is married and has two children.
