Rudolf von Oetinger (born January 1, 1830 in Werben (Spreewald) , † December 27, 1920 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Rudolf was a son of the Prussian prime lieutenant and gentleman on advertising Adolf von Oetinger (1798-1839) and his wife Ulrike, née von Buchholz († 1859). His older brother Eugen (1826-1915) also rose to lieutenant general.

Military career

After his upbringing in his parents' house and in the Bensberg cadet house , Oetinger passed his Abitur at the high school in Cottbus . On November 7, 1848, he joined the 2nd Company of the 5th Jäger Department of the Prussian Army in Görlitz as an avantageur . In the following year, during the suppression of the Baden Revolution , he took part in the battles near Ladenburg , the Federbach and stone walls as well as the siege of Rastatt . He was promoted to secondary lieutenant until mid-October 1852 and was transferred to the 4th Jäger Battalion in Sangerhausen on September 14, 1858 . In April / May 1860 he was assigned to the rifle factory in Sömmerda for training purposes . When he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 1, 1860, he was transferred to the newly formed 3rd Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 71 in Erfurt . On the occasion of the introduction of the Dreyse needle gun , Oetinger was assigned to the Duke of Saxony-Altenburg contingent in Altenburg for two months at the beginning of 1862 . Oetinger married Klara von Blumenthal (* 1840) from the Gottschalk family in Falkenberg on October 11, 1864 . The daughter Delicia (* 1865) emerged from the marriage and married Theodor von Hanstein in 1889 . He was a Prussian Rittmeister as well as a master of Bornhagen and Siemerode .
