Símun Eiler Samuelsen (born May 21, 1985 ) is a Faroese football player on the position of an attacking midfielder. He has played for HB Tórshavn since 2017 and was previously active for the Faroese national team .

Samuelsen began his career with VB Vágur in the first division . His first game in the Faroese top division was on matchday 13 in a 2-0 home win against HB Tórshavn , when he was substituted on in the 83rd minute. In his second season he was mainly used for the second team. There he scored on the third match day of the second division in the game against NSÍ Runavík II also his first competitive goal to win 1-0.
In 2003 he moved to GÍ Gøta , to whom he remained loyal for a year. Here he also played for the first time in the cup and reached the final with GÍ, which was lost 1: 3 against B36 Tórshavn . In the first division he was one of the regular players and reached seventh place there. In 2004 he returned to VB Vágur and stayed until 2005. In that year he left home and moved to Keflavík ÍF in the Pepsideild . With fourth place in the championship, Keflavík ÍF could qualify for the UI Cup . In the following year, a fourth place in the league succeeded again, with a 2-0 victory in the cup final against KR Reykjavík , the club qualified for the UEFA Cup.
In 2007 the offensive player left Keflavík and was loaned to Notodden FK in the Adeccoligaen for half a year . There he played in the second highest Norwegian league before he returned to Keflavík in 2008 and was able to achieve the runner-up title with the team in 2008. In 2009, Keflavík ÍF finished sixth in the league and thus failed to qualify for an international competition. At the end of the year Samuelsen was voted Player of the Year by the club. However, he returned to the Faroe Islands in early 2010 and has played for HB Tórshavn ever since . At the beginning of the season he won the Faroese Supercup with HB with a 2-1 win against cup winner Víkingur Gøta . In qualifying for the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League , he scored for the 1-0 win in the second leg against FC Red Bull Salzburg after losing the first leg 5-0. In his first season for the new club, he was able to win the championship title together with Fróði Benjaminsen and Andrew av Fløtum . Due to a foot injury, he dropped out at the end of the season in 2013. Nevertheless, the second championship title could be celebrated alongside Jóhan Troest Davidsen and Christian Mouritsen . In the summer of 2015, Samuelsen moved to league rivals FC Suðuroy , with whom he was relegated penultimate. After moving to the first division club AB Argir , the penultimate place was again occupied. Samuelsen then signed another contract with HB Tórshavn, with whom he became champions for the third time in 2018. In the cup final against B36 Tórshavn, his team lost on penalties. But B36 was defeated 1-0 in the Supercup. In the final of the National Cup 2019 Víkingur Gøta was defeated 3-1.
European Cup
So far, Samuelsen has played 19 European matches. He made his debut in 2003 for GÍ Gøta in the first round of the UI Cup in the first leg against FC Dacia Chișinău , which was lost 4-1. GÍ also lost the second leg with 0: 1 and was eliminated. In the game for Keflavík ÍF against the German representative 1. FSV Mainz 05 on August 11, 2005 in the second qualifying round for the 2005/06 UEFA Cup , Samuelsen played through, but could not prevent the 2-0 defeat in Frankfurt am Main . He scored his first goal in 2006 for Keflavík in the first round of the UI Cup in a 4-1 home win over Dungannon Swifts to take the lead 1-0. Internationally Samuelsen played from 2003 for the national team of the Faroe Islands . He made his debut together with Atli Danielsen , Jann Ingi Petersen and Jónhard Frederiksberg on April 27, 2003 in a 3-2 win in the friendly against Kazakhstan in Tórshavn , he was in the 61st minute at 3: 1 for Jákup á Borg substituted in. He scored his first international goal on October 8, 2005 against Israel in Tel Aviv in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup , making it 1: 2. On June 11, 2013, he played his last international match in the World Cup qualifier against Sweden in Stockholm .
