The SKA Saint Petersburg ( Russian СКА Санкт-Петербург ) is an ice hockey club from Saint Petersburg , Russia . He plays in the Continental Hockey League . The club colors are white, red and blue.
history
The club was founded in 1946 as the sports club of the Sergei Kirov Officer's House in Leningrad. In 1956 the association was renamed LDO Leningrad (LDO: Leningrad House of Officers). The club grew very quickly, in 1957 it became the official club of the Leningrad Military District and was renamed SKWO Leningrad (SKWO: Sports Club of the Military District). In 1959 the club was renamed SKA Leningrad (SKA: Sports Club of the Army). Almost all military sports clubs were given the nickname SKA. Since the 1994/95 season the club has been playing under the current name SKA Saint Petersburg .
successes
The club was particularly successful in the early 1970s with the then coach Nikolai Putschkow , when the Spengler Cup was won twice in a row in 1970 and 1971 . The third win came in 1977, the fourth in 2010.
In 1971 and 1987 the club won the bronze medals of the Soviet championship .
