Schüren is a district of Meschede in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis in Germany .

The place is on the state road 914 and on the Schürenbach about four kilometers southwest of Meschede between Mülsborn in the north and Büenfeld in the south. 32 people live in Schüren (as of June 30, 2019).

history

Four Schürener farms are mentioned in the 1543 appraisal register. In 1595 the Greve manor was built. The village was ancestral seat of the noble von Kleinsorgen family until 1842 . After acquiring Gut Blessenohl , Maximilian von Kleinsorgen moves his residence from Schüren to Blessenohl. In 1896 the semi-detached working houses belonging to Gut Kleinsorgen were demolished.

During the First World War , nine men from Schüren were called in to mobilize in 1914. In 1932, today's Meschede-Schüren airfield was built . The Sauerland Aviation Association was founded on July 22nd, 1932 and organized a major flight day at Pentecost of the following year 1933. Two years later the first post office opened on the Gast homestead.

In 1946 the Caritas Association took over the building of the gliding school and set up a children's and youth home there. The chapel on the airfield was closed in 1970.

Since 2017, Gut Greve has been home to the Gut Possible municipality .
