German Chess League 2005/06 (Austria)
The 2005/06 season was the 31st season of the Austrian Chess League . SV Wulkaprodersdorf , SC MPÖ Maria Saal and SK Götzis were promoted from the 2nd Bundesliga .
While Wulkaprodersdorf and Maria Saal achieved relegation, Götzis had to relegate immediately. The other relegated teams would have been SK Fürstenfeld and SV Tschaturanga Neubau , but since SV Schwarzach withdrew its team and Fürstenfeld decided not to take the place, Neubau could remain second to last in the league.
The top was very close together this season. The new champions Union Styria Graz was only separated by a single point on the board from the next four pursuers. Newcomers SV Wulkaprodersdorf surprisingly secured the runner-up title ahead of SG Frohnleiten / Semriach , SK Hohenems and defending champion Union Ansfelden , who had to be satisfied with fifth place.
