history
The village is mentioned as early as 1075 when it was owned by the Corvey Monastery . The known documentary evidence can be found in the following overview:
- Scanesbuele, In (beginning of the 11th century) [Corveyer Heberolle, copy of the 15th century Kaminsky, Reichsabtei Corvey, pp. 198–199, § IV]
- Svanesbule, de (1257) [Bredelar Monastery documents, p. 83, no. 79]
- Svenesbule, de (1312) [Bredelar monastery documents, p. 127, no. 175]
- Swensbule, in (1350) [Paul Wigand, individual contributions, in: Archive for history and antiquity of Westphalia 6 (1834), pp. 385–405, IV: The oldest Corveyer Lehnsregister, here p. 391, § 24]
- Schwensbuel (1537) [HStAM inventory 127 No. 3]
- Schweinsbel (1733) [HStAD inventory P 23 No. 56]
The church was built in 1150 . Corvey had patronage over church and court. The town was the seat of a Goger othing with a free chair . According to tradition, this was to the west of the church.
In 1354 the patronage went to Johann von Padberg and the "Brothers Scalenberg". In the following period this changed more often, including to the Counts of Waldeck . This patronage provided the respective owners with ample income. These were stored in a tithe barn near the church. The monks of the Flechtdorf monastery also moved their monastery parish to Schweinsbühl.
Incorporations
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Schweinsbühl and twelve other municipalities formed the new municipality of Diemelsee on December 31, 1971.
church
The small Romanesque church dedicated to St. George was built between 1180 and 1190 . It was first mentioned in a document in 1336. It is single-bay and single-nave. Around 1510 it became a Protestant parish church. The church patronage was held alternately by the Counts of Waldeck, the Lords of Dalwigk , the Lords of Rhena and the Lords of Padberg . In 1669 it received a valuable carved Baroque pulpit. Later, probably in 1699, it received a carved altarpiece by the Waldeck sculptor Josias Wolrat Brützel . This altarpiece has been in the Korbach Local History Museum since a church renovation in 1953. The Romanesque font from the time of its origin is still preserved .
