Culture and sights
church
A church is mentioned for the first time in the middle of the 13th century . It was probably one of the oldest churches in the region and was dedicated to St. Consecrated to Michael. This building was used over the centuries, suffered a fire in 1818, the tower collapsed in 1845 and finally, in the 1870s, it was decided to rebuild the church, which was built in 1878: the three-bay, single-nave and vaulted nave with a gallery was enclosed in the east recessed, apsidal choir , in the west a tower , the upper storey of which only rose slightly above the ridge of the roof. This building was destroyed by a British bomb in the Second World War on July 23, 1940 at 2:30 a.m. as the first church in the entire German Reich and could only be rebuilt 13 years later, this time with a flat ceiling, organ gallery in the west and overall simpler furnishings.
Castle
The castle Grimmenstein is an Outbound hilltop castle near Vasbeck.
