The Seat Fura is a small three- and five-door station wagon that was built from the beginning of 1982 as a further development of the Seat 127 and is based on the Fiat 127 .
After the takeover of Seat by the VW group, it no longer seemed appropriate to over-emphasize the previous ties to Fiat . Therefore, the model was renamed and given a new front and rear end from 1982.
In addition to the two engine variants of the predecessor with 903 cm³ and 34.5 kW (47 PS) and 1010 cm³ with 38 kW (52 PS), the engine of the Seat 1430 was now available with 1438 cm³ and 55 kW (75 PS). This engine had a timing belt driven camshaft and was used identically in the Seat 1430 Bocanegra and the Seat 128 Coupé. This better equipped model with sporty accessories was called Fura Crono ; its top speed was 160 km / h.
The body variants with a small trunk lid and the " Samba " were omitted.
Under the name El Nasr Super Fura , the car was also assembled at NASCO in Cairo ( Egypt ).
At the end of 1985 the production of the Seat Fura was stopped. Together with its predecessor, it was the Spanish automaker's most successful model (over 1.3 million copies). Its successor, Seat Ibiza , came onto the market in the summer of 1984.
