The four-door sedan and a five-door station wagon Seat 1430 5 puertas appeared in 1969 with a different front and rear view and the engine of the Fiat 124 Special (1438 cm³ and 51 kW (70 hp)). The new car, which looked similar to the Fiat 124 Special with its double headlights , reached 155 km / h.

From 1973 the engine had 55 kW (75 PS) and made the car up to 158 km / h. At the same time the Seat 1430 Especial 1600 appeared with 1592 cm³ displacement and 70 kW (95 PS). He drove up to 175 km / h.

In the 1973 Spanish rally championship, these vehicles took first places and also performed well in international competitions ( RAC rally , Cyprus rally and 24 Hours of Ypres). From 1970 there was also a “Fórmula Seat 1430”, in which private drivers started in monoposti with Seat 1430 engines installed in the rear.

In 1976 the Seat 1430 was discontinued. The successors were the "Especial" models of the Seat 124 D and the Seat 131 .
