The Seat Panda was a three-door small car , the structure and partly in the motorization of the Italian sister model Fiat Panda of the first series.

In 1979, Fiat and Seat agreed to produce another joint model, but when the new Seat Panda was presented in the summer of 1980, the Italians terminated the cooperation agreement and subsequently demanded high license fees for the model of Italian design that went into production.

The Seat Panda 45 , like its Italian counterpart, had the 903 cm³ engine of the Seat 127 , which was reduced in output to 40 hp / 29 kW. In addition, the Spaniards offered the Seat Panda 35 , which was equipped with the 843 cm³ engine of the Seat 133 . He developed 34 HP / 25 kW. The Panda 30 from Italian production with the two-cylinder engine of the Fiat 126 was not taken over.

A Seat Panda Furgoneta Comercial was manufactured as a Spanish specialty , the rear side windows of which were laminated . The back seat was missing, as was the case with the corresponding model of the Seat 600 , so that the vehicle could be used as a small delivery van.

In 1983, the first step away from Fiat and towards the VW group, which had taken over the management in Barcelona, brought out the special models Seat Panda Marbella , Seat Panda Montana and Seat Panda Bavaria with better equipment and a facelift.

In 1985 the Seat Trans was launched for Furgoneta Comercial , a panda with a closed or glazed box structure at the rear.

In autumn 1985 the successor models Seat Marbella and Terra were presented. The revision of the chassis of the Fiat Panda was no longer taken over.
