The Seat 131 was a lower middle class passenger car produced from early 1975 to early 1985 . It was available as a four-door notchback sedan and a five-door station wagon. With the 131, Seat replaced the Seat 1430 series .

It was built in Spain with the body of the Fiat 131 , but with a different engine from the Italian original:

The Seat 131 L inherited the engine of the Seat 1430 with 1438 cm³ and 55 kW / 75 PS. Its top speed was 155 km / h. The Seat 131 E got the engine of the Seat 1430 Especial 1600 with 1592 cm³ and 70 kW / 95 PS. He drove up to 170 km / h. Both vehicles were offered from 1975 to 1981.

The Seat 131 Diesel had a 4-cylinder in-line engine from Perkins with 1760 cm³ and 36 kW / 49 PS. From 1980, a 2.5-liter engine from SOFIM (the 8140 ) was used instead .

As with the Fiat 131, Supermirafiori versions were also offered for the Seat from spring 1978 . The Seat 131 Supermirafiori 1800 developed 79 kW / 107 PS from a displacement of 1756 cm³, the Seat 131 Supermirafiori 1900 developed 80 kW / 109 PS from a displacement of 1920 cm³. Both versions, which were available until 1985, drove up to 175 km / h.

Production of the Seat 131 ended in early 1985. His successor was called Malaga .
