Previous model Seat Ibiza II
successor Seat Ibiza IV

The Seat Ibiza III is the third generation of the Ibiza and was produced by Seat . Like the Polo 9N and the Škoda Fabia I, it is based on the PQ24 / A04 platform from the parent company Volkswagen , but is a little larger and designed more for sportiness. The Fabia came on the market before the Polo 9N; its platform was designed by Škoda as a "development service provider" for Volkswagen. Like the Polo, the Ibiza is available as a three- and five-door model, the Škoda Fabia only as a five-door model.

The 2.0-liter engine with 85 kW (115 PS) was not available in Germany. It was available in Switzerland and the Netherlands, for example, but production stopped in mid-2004.

Facelift

In June 2006 the Ibiza received a slight facelift, recognizable among other things by the front bumper with separate air intakes and slightly darker taillights.

FR and Cupra

The Ibiza FR ( F ormula R acing) as the successor to the Ibiza Sport, which was initially available, combines sporty components and more powerful engines with comfort functions. Together with the Stylance model , the FR offers most of the optional extras for the Ibiza.

Cupra stands for Cup Racing and has been the name of the sportiest models in Seat production since the type was introduced in the second (6K) generation of the Seat Ibiza. From the Cupra (type 6K) there was a special model Competition Rallye Cup, a small series of 30 pieces that were built for the purpose of hosting the Seat Ibiza Rallye Cup (Seat / Sport Erwin Weber GmbH). Currently, only the Seat Leon and Seat Ibiza Cupra models are available, in the GP 01 there was also a Cordoba Cupra, of which only small numbers were produced. They are characterized by more aggressive styling, more powerful engines and sporty, comfortable equipment. The standard equipment of the Cupra models exceeds that of the FR variants. The most powerful engines available for the Seat Ibiza Cupra produce 118 kW / 160 PS (diesel) and 132 kW / 180 PS (Otto engine).
