The four-seater SUV was the first Seat designed under Luc Donckerwolke and was intended to anticipate design features of future models. Angular lines and the yellow paintwork of the Tribu were reminiscent of the vehicles from Lamborghini , where Donckerwolke had previously been head of design.

Other special features included rear lights integrated into the luggage compartment lid , which were located under glass and only became visible when they were lit, as well as the windshield , which merged seamlessly into a glass roof that extended to the rear seats.

Exact data on the engine were not published.

Despite an announcement to the contrary, the Tribu did not go into series production . It wasn't until 2016 that Seat presented its first SUV, the Ateca .
