The Cupra Formentor is a crossover consisting of a sport utility vehicle and a coupé from the Spanish automobile brand Cupra .
history
Cupra presented a first preview of the model in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show with the near-series study Formentor Concept . The series model was also to be presented in Geneva a year later. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the auto salon on February 28, 2020 was canceled, which is why the premiere on March 3, 2020 could only be seen via live stream on the Internet. Since July 8, 2020, the First Edition, which is limited to 310 copies in Germany, can be reserved against a deposit of 1000 euros. The first vehicles are to be delivered from autumn 2020.
The Formentor is the first independently developed model of the Cupra brand, which was spun off from Seat in 2018 . The vehicle is named after Cap Formentor on Mallorca . Production takes place in Martorell, Spain . Like the Seat Leon IV and the VW Golf VIII , the Formentor is based on the MQB evo modular transverse matrix from the Volkswagen Group .
Technical specifications
The series is initially powered by a two-liter TSI engine with 228 kW (310 hp) and all-wheel drive or a 1.4-liter Otto hybrid with 180 kW (245 hp) and front-wheel drive . Both drives are also available in the Cupra Leon.
