Sheikhpura is a district in the Indian state of Bihar . It has the lowest population of all districts in Bihar.

The area is 689 km². The administrative seat is the city of Sheikhpura .

The population is 636,342 (2011). The population growth rate in the period from 2001 to 2011 was 25.36% and was therefore very high. Sheikhpura has a gender ratio of 880 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus that is usual for India. The district has a literacy rate of 63.86% in 2011, an increase of almost 15 percentage points compared to 2001. However, reading skills are still below the national average. Almost 94% of the population are Hindus and around 6% are Muslim .

Almost 17.1% of the population live in cities. The largest city is Sheikhpura with 62,927 inhabitants.
