Sieversdorf-Hohenofen is a municipality in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in northwest Brandenburg (Germany). It is administered by the Neustadt (Dosse) office.

Sieversdorf-Hohenofen is located between Neustadt (Dosse) and Rhinow im Dossebruch.

Sieversdorf-Hohenofen includes the districts of Hohenofen and Sieversdorf as well as the New America area.

history

The community emerged on December 31, 1997 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities of Sieversdorf and Hohenofen.

Sieversdorf and Hohenofen belonged to the Ruppin rule since the 14th century, to the Ruppin district in the Mark Brandenburg since 1524 and to the Kyritz district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . Since 1993, both places have been in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district of Brandenburg.

Sieversdorf

The first mention of Sieversdorf comes from a document from 1334. The counts of Lindow and gentlemen Ruppin , the brothers Günther and Ulrich and the brothers Adolph and Busso, confess that they by their prince, the Margrave Ludwig of Brandenburg City Wusterhausen / Dosse with all the villages and estates that belong to it, and specifically the villages of “Brunne (Brunn), Driplatz (Trieplatz), Syuerdestorp (Sieversdorf), Blankenburg, Plonitz (Plänitz), Cernitz (Zernitz), Gardiz (Garz / Temnitztal) and Dannenuelde (Dannenwalde) ”, as well as the city and state of Gransee with all villages and goods, for a claim of 7000 Mark Brandenburgisch as a pledge.

Hohenofen

The history of Hohenofen goes back to the founding of an ironworks in 1693, which Landgrave Friedrich von Hessen-Homburg , who served in Brandenburg, had it built here. The Landgrave had taken over the Rittmeister Liborius Eck from his predecessor, the Count of Königsmark, as administrator . He examined the area, which until then was called Vierhütten , and found in four mountains of cinder the evidence that ironworks must have stood there. An iron smelting in four cabins had to " Slavic period " before 1250 occurred as the name suggests. Eck soon discovered the iron stone, the red iron sludge in the meadows, and the landgrave decided to restore the ironworks. Hydropower had to be obtained to operate the blowers . For this purpose, a canal was created from Neustadt, which became the main course of the Dosse. The lawn iron stone , which is up to six feet thick, was required for the "high oven" . After ten years the lawn iron stone deposits and the wood stocks in the vicinity were exhausted. 1702 ironworks in a Hohenofen was Seiger - smelter converted ( silver - copper -Divorce). The copper ores and fuels were transported from Magdeburg by water. In 1836 the ironworks became a paper factory, which was set up by the Royal Maritime Trade .

Former districts

In 1622 there were two villages with two Schulzen: Klein-Sieversdorf and Groß-Sieversdorf. The villages were separated by a Dossearm, on which a water mill stood until 1673 , today's Mühlengraben.

In 1841, today's Sieversdorf consisted of Klein-Sieversdorf, Groß-Sieversdorf and Büttner-Sand.
