history

The San Candido tourism association and the Sextner Dolomiten AG have decided to increase awareness in the area around San Candido. Because the Alpine Ski World Cup has been a fixture in this area around Innichen for several years. The San Candido winter sports club is always on friendly terms with the FIS. That is why the San Candido tourism association approached freestyle back in the spring of 2009, so Joe Fitzgerald, FIS Freestyle Manager, invited the tourism association to San Candido, where the Ski Cross World Cup was sealed as the venue.

The first Ski Cross World Cup took place in December 2009. Since the first World Cup, no World Cup has been canceled in San Candido, because the climatic situation of San Candido is beneficial for snow production, and December is a very cold month around San Candido and the winter sports club Innichen has many years of experience in piste construction. Because they know how to create great obstacles with little snow. In addition, the Haunold ski mountain is equipped with the latest snowmaking technology. The competitions from December 19 to 21, 2014 had to be canceled due to bad weather conditions, and it is not possible to cover the ski cross course with snow.
