The 2000/01 season was the tenth edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with eight teams. The defending champion and new champion was HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .

Participant field and mode

As in the previous season, the international interliga competition was held in the run-up to the Slovenian championship (see Interliga 2000/01 ), in which HK Jesenice , HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , HK Slavija Ljubljana and HK Bled took part. In contrast to last year, however, no bonus points were awarded from this competition.

The field of participants in the Slovenian league changed slightly, as the bankrupt HK Celje no longer took part and HDK Stavbar Maribor took over instead . A simple round-trip round was played in the basic round. Then the best four teams played a final round to determine the final placement for the playoffs. These were then held in the form of the final and third place match. The four last-placed teams determined the final ranking in another short round-trip.
