Sopkino ( Russian Сопкино , German Rosenberg, Gerdauen district ) is a place in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast ( Koenigsberg area (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Pravdinskoje gorodskoje posselenije (municipality Prawdinsk (Friedland (Ostpr.) )) Within the Prawdinsk district ( Friedland district) ).

Sopkino is located north of the Russian trunk road A 196 (former German Reichsstrasse 131 ) between Prawdinsk ( Friedland , 12 kilometers) and Schelesnodoroschny ( Gerdauen , 14 kilometers) and can be reached via a road connection from the A 196 to Djatlowo (Sophienberg) .

history

The rural community, formerly known as Rosenberg , was one of the communities that formed the newly established district of Schakenhof (Russian: Trostniki) in 1874 . It belonged to 1945 the district Gerdauen in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 there were 334 residents registered here.

On September 30, 1928 Rosenberg gave up his independence and merged with the manor districts Schakenhof (Trostniki) and Sophienberg (Djatlowo) to form the new rural community Schakenhof.

In 1945 Rosenberg came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and was renamed "Sopkino" in 1947.
