Selenzowo ( Russian Зеленцово , German Grünthal ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad (area around the former Königsberg ) and belongs to the Pravdinskoje gorodskoje posselenije (municipality Prawdinsk ( Friedland in East Prussia )) in the Pravdinsk Rajon ( Friedland district ).

Geographical location

Selenzowo is one kilometer north of Sevskoje (Böttchersdorf) not far from the Russian trunk road A 196 (former German Reichsstrasse 131 ). Until 1945, Böttchersdorf was the next station on the railway line from Königsberg (today Russian: Kaliningrad) to Angerburg (today Polish: Węgorzewo), which is no longer in operation today.

history

On June 11, 1874, what was then the Grünthal estate was one of the six rural communities or estate districts that formed the newly established district of Böttchersdorf (now in Russian: Sewskoje). Until 1927 it belonged to the district of Friedland , then until 1945 to the district of Bartenstein (Ostpr.) In the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 the village had 38 inhabitants.

On September 30, 1928, Grünthal gave up his independence and merged with the manor district Krügerwalde (Russian: Rasdolje) and the rural communities Böttchersdorf (Sewskoje) and Klein Pothlack (also: Rasdolje) to form the new rural community Böttchersdorf.

As a result of the Second World War , Grünthal came with the northern part of East Prussia to the Soviet Union and in 1947 received the Russian place name "Selenzowo". Until 2009, the place was incorporated into the since 1991/92 Russian Oblast Kaliningrad in the Sevski Soviet (Dorfsovjet Sevskoje ( Böttchersdorf )). Since then, due to structural and administrative reform, Selenzowo has been classified as a "settlement" (Russian: possjolok) within the Pravdinskoje gorodskoje posselenije (municipality of Pravdinsk ( Friedland in East Prussia )) in the Pravdinsk district .

Before 1945, the majority of the population of Grünthal were of Protestant denomination and thus parish into the parish of Böttchersdorf (Russian: Sevskoje). It was in the church district Friedland (Ostpr.) (Prawdinsk) or Bartenstein (today Polish: Bartoszyce) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
