Krutoi Jar ( Russian Крутой Яр , German Götzlack ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg Region (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Pravdinskoje gorodskoje posselenije (municipality Prawdinsk (Friedland (Ostpr.)) ) In Pravdinsk Rajon ( Friedland County (Eastern Prussia) .) ).

Krutoi Jar is located southeast of Prawdinsk on the east bank of the Alle (Russian: Lawa) dammed in the Heron Lake, not far from a side street that connects the Rajons capital with Bytschkowo (Kaydann) and Sevskoje (Böttchersdorf) , before 1945 to Groß Schönau (Russian: Peskowo), where it is lost today in the Russian-Polish border area. On September 30, 1928, the Götzlack manor district gave up its independence and merged with the Heyde manor districts (Russian: Kostjukowka) and Lawdt to form the new rural community of Heyde in the Allenau district.

In 1945 Götzlack came to the Soviet Union in connection with Heyde within northern East Prussia and in 1947 received the Russian name "Krutoi Jar" as an independent settlement. Since then, Krutoi Yar has been classified as a “settlement” (Russian: possjolok) within the Kaliningrad Oblast, which has been in Russia since 1991/92, due to structural and administrative reforms within the Pravdinskoje gorodskoje posselenije (municipality of Pravdinsk (Friedland (East)) ) in Pravdinsk district .
