Steindorf is a district of the city of Wetzlar in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse . It is located south of the Lahn, west of the city center and east of Albshausen , a district of Solms . The district is more rural. In the former school building in Steindorf there is a district office of the city of Wetzlar and since 1993 a small local museum.
history
On May 11, 886, the place in the Wanendorfer Mark was first mentioned in a document by Count Konrad the Elder in the Lorsch Codex . For centuries Steindorf was a parish in Oberbiel . Secularly it belonged to the county of Solms . To the south-east was the Solms domain of Magdalenenhausen .
After Steindorf came to the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 with the Braunfels office , it became Prussian in 1815. The village was assigned to the mayor's office in Braunfels . With the dissolution of the mayor's offices in the district of Wetzlar , the place became independent.
On January 1, 1977, the previously independent municipality became part of the Wetzlar district of the newly founded city of Lahn as part of the Hessian regional reform by virtue of state law . Steindorf has belonged to the city of Wetzlar since it was dissolved on August 1, 1979 as a result of violent popular protests.
