Sverre Lunde Pedersen (born July 17, 1992 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian speed skater .

Career

Pedersen first started in the World Cup in Heerenveen in November 2009 . There he finished 16th over 5000 m in Division B. The following month he took third place in the team pursuit in Calgary, his first podium in the World Cup. At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Moscow , he won gold in the all-around competition. The following season he reached second places in the team pursuit in Berlin and Moscow. At the Junior World Championships in 2011 in Seinäjoki , he won silver in the all-around competition. He won gold over 1500 m, 5000 m and in four-way combat. The following year he won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Obihiro in all- around, four-way, over 1500 m and over 5000 m. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he came on the podium in Heerenveen for the first time in an individual. There he took third place over 1500 m. This was followed by nine top ten placements in ten other individual World Cup competitions during the season. He also achieved third place in the team pursuit at the World Cup in Astana and finished the season in eighth place in the World Cup over 1500 m and sixth place in the World Cup over 5000/10000 m. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished eighth over 1500 m and fifth over 5000 m and in the all-around competition.

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season , Pedersen won his first World Cup victory over 1500 m in Seoul . In the further course of the season he took second place four times and third place three times in the World Cup. At the all- around world championships in 2015 in Calgary he won the bronze medal and at the individual distance world championships in 2015 in Heerenveen he finished 11th over 1500 m and 5000 m and fourth over 10000 m. He finished the season in the overall World Cup in third place and in the World Cup over 1500 m and in the World Cup over 5000/10000 m in second place. In the 2015/16 season he achieved 11 top ten placements in the individual world cup, including second place in Inzell over 5000 m and third place over 5000 m and second place over 1500 m in Heerenveen, fifth place in the world cup over 1500 m and third place in the World Cup over 5000/10000 m. At the 2017 World Single Distance Championships in Gangwon , he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit. In addition, he came in 14th place over 1500 m and sixth place over 5000 m. At the beginning of March 2017 he was fourth in the four-way combat at the all- around world championship in Hamar . In the 2017/18 season he triumphed in Stavanger over 1500 m and in Erfurt over 5000 m. At the highlight of the season, the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in February 2018 , he won bronze in the 5000 m and gold in the team pursuit. In the 1500 m run he came in ninth place. In March 2018 he won the silver medal at the all- around world championship in Amsterdam . In the 2018/19 season, Pedersen took second place twice and third place in the team pursuit. At the all-around European championship in January 2019 in Klobenstein , he won the bronze medal in the four-way fight. At the individual distance world championships in 2019 in Inzell , he won the silver medal in the 1500 m and the team pursuit and the gold medal in the 5000 m.
