Tarqeq (also Saturn LII ) is one of the smaller outer moons of the planet Saturn .
discovery
The discovery of Tarqeq by Scott S. Sheppard , David C. Jewitt , Jan Kleyna and Brian G. Marsden on recordings from January 5, 2006 to March 22, 2007 was announced on April 13, 2007.
Tarqeq was initially the provisional designation S / 2007 S 1,
was named the moon after tarqeq , the moon spirit from the mythology of the Inuit .
Orbit data
Tarqeq orbits Saturn on an eccentric orbit at an average distance of 17,910,600 km in around 894 days and 22 hours.
The orbit eccentricity is 0.108, the orbit is inclined at 49.904 ° to the ecliptic .
Tarqeq belongs to the Inuit group of Saturn's moons.
Structure and physical data
Tarqeq has a diameter of about 7 km. This moon needs more than three days for one revolution around its own axis. This is the longest rotation period measured by the Cassini space probe for an irregular Saturn moon.
