action
In the “Blue Ribbon” laundry, fatal accidents with insufficient laundry occur again and again. Detective Superintendent John Hunton begins the investigation, focusing primarily on the bossy and abstruse laundry owner Bill Gartley. There is a kind of inner bond between Gartley and the machine. The lack of laundry has a life of its own and demands the blood of a virgin 16-year-old once a year. John Hunton and his friend Jackson try to switch off the machine on their own with the help of occult practices and a fight develops between man and machine.

Reviews
The film was rated very badly by almost all critics:
- Lexicon of international films : "Ridiculous film adaptation of a Stephen King short story with an outrageous dramaturgy and a tendency towards involuntarily comical stereotypes."
- Cinema : “The only thing that makes“ The Mangler ”interesting is the impressive set design of the laundry. But of course a creepy set up is not enough to keep the audience happy for an hour and a half. The rest is collar dirt, and thus "The Mangler" is just another coffin nail for the permanently ailing horror film. "
