Thomas Edward Gullickson (born August 14, 1950 in Sioux Falls , USA ) is an Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and a diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

After studying philosophy and theology, Thomas Gullickson was ordained a priest on June 27, 1976 in his hometown, also the seat of his home diocese, Sioux Falls , by Bishop Lambert Anthony Hoch . In 1985 he became bishop of the Pontifical Gregorian University after completing a dissertation entitled The diocesan. Moderator and sponsor of the ministry of the word. The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo , secretary of the Vatican Secretariat of State , the same year on December 15; Co -consecrators were Bishop Robert James Carlson and Ex-Bishop Paul Vincent Dudley of Sioux Falls. On the same day he was named apostolic nuncio to Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda , Barbados , Bahamas, Dominica, Grenada , Guyana , Jamaica , St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia , St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname ordered With his inauguration took over the representation in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Suriname and the Grenadines. He was also an Apostolic Delegate of the Antilles Episcopal Conference of the Roman Catholic Church in the Caribbean .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 21, 2011 as Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine . Because of decidedly pro-Ukrainian political statements in public, he was dismissed prematurely from this office.

On September 5, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Switzerland and Liechtenstein , based in Bern .
