Tim Taylor (born February 6, 1969 in Stratford , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current - scout , who played 835 games for the Detroit Red Wings , Boston Bruins , New York Rangers and among others between 1986 and 2007 Tampa Bay Lightning has played in the National Hockey League on the position of the center . Taylor won the Stanley Cup twice during his 13 seasons in the NHL  - in 1997 with the Detroit Red Wings and in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, of which he was the sixth team captain in franchise history between 2006 and 2008. His brother Chris was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Tim Taylor began his career as a hockey player with the London Knights , for which he was active from 1986 to 1989 in Canada's top junior league, the Ontario Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1988 in the second round as a total of 36th player by the Washington Capitals , for which he however never played. Instead, he ran from 1989 to 1993 for their farm team , the Baltimore Skipjacks , in the American Hockey League , before he was given to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Eric Murano on January 29, 1993 , again exclusively for theirs until the end of the season AHL farm team Hamilton Canucks stood on the ice. On July 28, 1993 Taylor received a free agent contract with the Detroit Red Wings , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1993/94 season , where he scored his first goal in the NHL on his only use. The remainder of the season he spent in the AHL farm team Adirondack Red Wings .

From 1994 to 1997 Taylor played for three more years for the Detroit Red Wings, with whom he won the prestigious Stanley Cup in the 1996/97 season . He then spent two seasons each with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers before he was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 30, 2001 in exchange for Kyle Freadrich and Nils Ekman , with whom he was in the 2003/04 season for the second time won the Stanley Cup in his career. During the lockout the following year, the Canadian paused with ice hockey before he continued to play for the Lightning. In September 2006 he was named their team captain. He filled this office in the 2006/07 season . In the following summer break, however, he had to undergo an operation due to hip dysplasia , which forced him to suspend the entire 2007/08 season . Nevertheless, he remained captain of the Lightning until his resignation in summer 2008.

Since the summer of 2011, Taylor has been employed by the St. Louis Blues as Director of Player Development and Scout .
