The village is located on Weiherlendgraben, which feeds the Fetzeldorfer Weiher to the east of the village and flows into the Kleine Weisach as a tributary on the left . In the northwest is the forest area Höfisches Holz , in the west there is the corridor area Rosenleite and the Kleine Winterbachwald .

history

The feudal lord in the place was the bishopric of Bamberg . From the 12th century the Michelsberg monastery had manorial claims. In 1217, Bishop Ekbert gave the monastery bailiwick rights for an anniversary . At the beginning of the 14th century, Konrad von Pahres was also a liege lord. He had a court in the village as a castle hat fief . As a successor to the Lords of Pahres, the Lords of Egloffstein had probably taken over the feudal lordship. In 1510, Silvester von Schaumberg acquired fiefs in Unterwinterbach.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 9 properties and a community shepherd's house in Unterwinterbach. The high court was exercised partly by the Bamberg center of Höchststadt and partly by the Castell office of Burghaslach . The village and township government had the box office Wachenroth held. The landlords were the bishopric Bamberg ( Kastenamt Höchstadt : 1 Sölde ; Kastenamt Wachenroth: 1 courtyard), Brandenburg-Bayreuth ( Kasten and Jurisdiktionsamt Dachsbach : 2 half courtyards ; Klosteramt Frauenaurach : 1 estate), the imperial city of Nuremberg ( Spitalamt : 2 courtyards) and the Schönborn rule in Pommersfelden (1 courtyard). The village and community rule was exercised hereditary .

As part of the municipal edict, the tax district Unterwinterbach was formed in 1808 , to which Buchfeld , Frimmersdorf , Warmersdorf and Weickersdorf belonged. In 1818 the rural community of Frimmersdorf was formed, to which Unterwinterbach belonged. One property was subject to the voluntary jurisdiction of the Pommersfelden Patrimonial Court (1827–1848).

Since 1876 there was a school in the village, which was closed after 1960.

On January 1, 1974, Unterwinterbach was incorporated into the Vestenbergsgreuth market as part of the regional reform .
